12 dead bodies, suspected to be victims of ship that sank during Typhoon Chaba, recovered

Twelve dead bodies, which are suspected to be victims of a ship that sank during Typhoon Chaba, have been found by mainland authorities, according to a CCTV report.

Authorities said that after several days of uninterrupted search and rescue, they have recovered 12 corpses, which are believed to be victims of drowning, as of 3:30pm on Monday.

“Relevant departments are stepping up their identity confirmation work,” they said.

Fujing 001, an engineering vessel, broke in half in waters off Yangjiang in the province of Guangdong on Saturday when typhoon Chaba hit Hong Kong and Guangdong.

Three members of the crew were rescued by Hong Kong’s Government Flying Service on Saturday, while one more was saved today (July 4). The rest of the 30-member crew remain missing.
