Police set up 107 roadblocks yesterday.

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 301 people yesterday over movement control order-related offences, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said 298 of them were issued compound fines while the other three were remanded.

Among the offences were flouting physical distancing rules (149), failure to wear face masks (77), failure to provide materials for contact tracing or registration (63), and participating in activities at entertainment centres (2).

A total of 2,506 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks and other places.

Ismail said police caught 31 illegal immigrants, two smugglers (tekong) and seized six vehicles under Op Benteng.

Enforcement officers had also set up 107 roadblocks for monitoring yesterday.

He added that 94,967 people had arrived through KLIA from July 24 to Dec 30 from various countries.

A total of 540 people were sent to hospital for treatment, 87,065 have since been allowed to return home while 7,362 are currently undergoing the mandatory quarantine.
