The Queen is the first British monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee, an occasion set to be marked by the nation with a long weekend of pageantry, parties and flag-waving in the monarch’s honour.
Celebrating 70 years on the throne this year, the Queen has already enjoyed several milestone jubilees that have been met with considerable excitement.
From “the flag-festooned street jamborees of 1977 to the star-studded televised concert of 2002 and the river extravaganza of 2012”, the Queen’s Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees have all been significant events in the national calendar, said The Telegraph.
The Platinum Jubilee will be no different, celebrated over a special four-day bank holiday weekend that will see street parties across the country and a huge pop concert live in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
