Aung Myint: A New Era, 1995 – 2021
One of Myanmar’s founders of avant-garde art, Aung Myint is celebrated for his unique contributions to the transition of modern art in postcolonial Myanmar to a more contemporary trajectory. This latest exhibition, his third at Karin Weber Gallery, features 15 paintings from a period when he disassociated himself from any singular artistic movement and commenced a more liberated approach to his canvases.
From now through July 9 at Karin Weber Gallery. For more information, visit Karin Weber Gallery’s website.
Self Portraits – Vivian Maier
The US photographer will be showcasing her works as part of the French May Arts Festival at f22 foto space. Spending most of her youth in France, her striking self-portraits offer a glimpse into the way she established her relations with the outside world while shedding light on the neglected beauty in everyday life through her perspective as a distant observer and “a kind of spy”, as she referred to herself.
From now through August 31 at f22 foto space. For more information, visit f22 foto space’s website.
