Cops are investigating social media posts that are deemed seditious against the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a social media account owner for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

In a statement, Federal CID chief Huzir Mohamed said police had confirmed that an Instagram account Bukan_Bang_Jago had posted a modified photo of the King’s face.

Further, the account owner had also posted the national anthem with edited lyrics and the Malaysian flag with a communist symbol.

“An investigation is being carried out by the classified criminal investigation unit, Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department (CID) under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.

Huzir urged the public to use social media platforms wisely and not to disrupt the country’s harmony.

“Stern action will be taken against any individual who threatens the country and the public’s safety,” he said.
