Coronavirus: what are the Hong Kong financial relief schemes available and can they help SMEs, unemployed affected by fifth wave?




Hong Kong announced on Friday two sets of relief schemes to help ease the heavy economic burden on the city’s workforce caused by stringent social-distancing measures amid a fifth wave of coronavirus infections.

The Employment Support Scheme (ESS) will be relaunched so that the government can hand out wage subsidies to affected small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
