Fishing for Sardinia's red coral: A dangerous but profitable business




Known as the red gold of Sardinia, the red coral that dots the seabed of the Italian island can sell for as much as €80 per gram. Fishing for this precious resource is strictly regulated to protect the coral for years to come. But the local market is being flooded with fakes.
