Furious caller 'absolutely sick to death' of MPs demands new law to hold rebels to account

The caller, introduced as Bill from Plymouth, said: “I am just absolutely sick to death and it really gets on my nerves. These MPs that have crossed the house and who have lost the whip and not gone back to the electorate.

“I feel that once this election is out of the way there needs to be a piece of legislation that is brought into the Houses of Parliament.

“If somebody loses the whip or walks across the house they’ve got 90 days to go back to the public to be re-elected by their constituents.

“They are stealing money from the public purse at the present moment in time.

“There is no justification for them to be sat in Parliament because they have resigned from the Conservative Party.”

Mike Graham then asked: “What about Chuka Umunna who’s changed parties twice since he was elected?”

The caller replied: “Exactly, what a loser.

“He’s riding the crest of a slump that guy.

“A couple of years ago there was hope he could lead the Labour Party, now look at him.”

Yesterday it was revealed that Boris will welcome back the 12 former-Tories who voted with the Government on Tuesday’s crucial vote.

However, Mr Johnson will not allow any of the nine Tories who voted against it to rejoin under his leadership.

Philip Hammond, Justine Greening and Rory Stewart are among the nine MPs blacklisted from the party.

This means they will not be allowed to stand for the Conservatives in the next general election.
