G-7 summit: While giving harshest rebuke to China yet, leaders deny wanting to thwart its progress


HIROSHIMA, Japan – It became evident on Saturday afternoon the extent to which China was to be a target for this year’s Group of Seven (G-7) summit of wealthy advanced democracies.

An early rushed copy of the leaders’ statement, spanning 40 pages, contained a nine-point segment that took aim at the world’s second-largest economy, criticising its “malign practices” and “interference activities”, among other things.
