Gary Neville insists there may be concern Manchester United need to strengthen at right-back amid Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s struggles.

The United legend feels a mass upheaval of the squad isn’t needed but another addition in midfield could help the team in January.

The Red Devils are on the search for an interim boss until the end of the season having decided to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday in the wake of their 4-1 defeat to Watford.

United conceded several sloppy goals at Vicarage Road with David de Gea at fault as well as the defence switching off at times.

One player who has been accused of ball-watching and being out of position in recent weeks is right-back Wan-Bissaka.

Neville feels a new signing to provide competition for the former Crystal Palace defender, as well as a new central midfielder, could help steady the ship at Old Trafford.

‘I’m not saying Manchester United don’t need strengthening in a few areas but this is a very good group of players who should be able to achieve a lot,’ Neville told Sky Sports.

‘They are so talented, there’s a lot of youth, but they need someone to come in who is able to harness them, bring them together as a group, get them to believe in a way of playing and get some results before the end of the season.

‘At the end of the season, I would imagine Manchester United are going to appoint a brand-new manager, and he will have to take them forward.

‘But I don’t think Manchester United need upheaval in the dressing room.

‘They maybe need strengthening in central midfield, you could argue there is a right-back issue developing and Aaron Wan-Bissaka needs some competition.

‘But, other than that, I would say if Manchester United could get the players they have got fit on the pitch, they will have a great chance of winning a lot of football matches.’

Caretaker boss Michael Carrick will take charge of United’s Champions League clash against Villarreal tomorrow night.
