Ghislaine Maxwell’s ‘degrading’ list of staff rules revealed in court
The trial at a federal district court in Manhattan is expected to last six weeks. Judge Alison Nathan is presiding.
Last week, prosecutors brought a green massage table in front of the jurors and one survivor claimed in her testimony that Epstein routinely used massages as a pretext for sex abuse.
One of the sexual abuse survivors, Sarah Ransome — who says she was repeatedly raped by Epstein over a nine-month period — described Ms Maxwell as a “very sick woman” who took pleasure in “humiliating” her victims.
Ms Ransome said: “Ghislaine enjoyed humiliating us. You could see the enjoyment in her face.”
Meanwhile, defence attorney Bobbi Sternheim said on the first day of the trial last week: “The charges against Ghislaine Maxwell are for things that Jeffrey Epstein did, but she is not Jeffrey Epstein.”
If Ms Maxwell is found guilty, she could face up to 35 years in jail.
Prosecution redirect will begin this afternoon.

Ms Sternheim asks to enter into evidence emails between “Kate” and Epstein when he was in jail.
She says one is signed “Best, love always”, which “Kate” confirms.
“Kate” says that she initiated email contact with him because she wanted to meet with him in New York. She broke off contact with him when she became a mother in her thirties. She is now 44.

Ms Sternheim questions “Kate” about her anonymity and the number of times she has spoken publicly, including an appearance in the same courthouse in front of a different judge.
She is also asked about her attorney mentioning her in a book, which she acknowledges but downplays, saying that there is only one sentence about her and that she gave permission.

Cross-examination of ‘Kate’ begins
Defence lawyer Bobbi Sternheim is cross-examining the witness “Kate”, asking her about her family and career as an “international model”.
Her mother was a beautiful debutante and her stepfather was very wealthy and lived in Belgravia in central London.
“Kate” confirms she modelled, including for lingerie companies, and dated a prominent Oxford classmate of Ms Maxwell.
She moved to the US on an “extraordinary ability” visa as a musician. She had non-speaking parts and in movies including one with a very well-known UK actor.

“Kate” stopped communicating with Epstein in her late 20s.
She was awarded $2.5m from the Epstein victims’ fund. She adds she has never sued Ms Maxwell and has no plans to do so.
“Kate” is using a pseudonym so that her child will not be associated with her testimony.

“Kate” admits she was addicted to cocaine, alcohol, and sleeping pills, which the defence says has fogged her memory.
Asked whether her memories have changed as Ms Maxwell’s lawyers have claimed, she says no.
“The memories that I have of significant events of my life have never changed,” she says.
She adds she may initially have “missed” certain memories that she later recalls.

‘Little St Jeff’
“Kate” recalls visiting Little St James, Epstein’s private island that he referred to as “Little St Jeff”.
She was in her early 20s at the time and remembers “a blonde slim girl, who seemed far younger than me at the time, very young”.
