Google has explained its decision to stop accepting political advertisements regulated under Singapore’s law against fake news, after it came under fire from the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), which likened the move to a ban on freedom of speech.

SDP chairman Paul Tambyah on Tuesday made public an exchange of e-mails with Google.
