HK woman found dead in Taiwan temple, reportedly left note warning against communicating with supernatural world

A young Hong Kong woman has been found dead in a temple in Taiwan and reportedly left behind a note warning against communicating with the supernatural world.

Taiwanese media outlet CTWANT quoted local police as saying a cleaner working at the Longshan Temple in the Wanhua District in Taipei found that the door of the women’s toilet in the basement could not be opened and did not get a response when she checked if anyone was inside at 2pm on Thursday.

After she got the temple’s security to open the door, they found a woman’s body. She appeared to have been dead for some time.

Paramedics who arrived moments later found that the woman was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

Two notes were later discovered in the deceased woman’s bag, which contained messages such as “I’m sorry for troubling you. It’s very troublesome to clean up. Sorry, please forgive me. Please don’t casually communicate with people in the spirit world,” and “Sorry, sorry.”

The media outlet quoted local police as saying that surveillance footage showed the deceased woman entering the temple alone, then heading to the toilet. She did not appear to leave at any point thereafter.

Police added that the deceased was a 20-year-old student from Hong Kong who was studying in Taiwan.

They also said they found personal identification documents in her backpack and did not find any signs of fighting or external actors at the scene.

The case has been passed on to relevant authorities for further examination.

The woman’s family has been contacted to head to Taiwan to handle her funeral arrangements.
