Hong Kong internet sensation and former Miss Asia fan fave could be appearing on screens in Singapore & Malaysia soon

Remember Ah Yi, the atypical Miss Asia Pageant 2021 contestant who won over the internet with her deadpan expressions and unusual demeanor?

After dropping out of the pageant and getting embroiled in more recent controversies — including being sentenced to two weeks in jail in March for kicking her neighbor after being reprimanded for not wearing a mask and being arrested for driving without a license — you would be forgiven for thinking that her 15-minutes of fame had passed.

But it seems like the reason why the internet sensation has been relatively quiet in Hong Kong recently is because she is preparing to break into the Malaysian, and possibly Singaporean, entertainment industries soon.

Sit Ying-yi (her full name) has been sharing what she has been up to in Malaysia on her Instagram account recently, such as attending the Goddess of Nature beauty pageant and filming in Sunway Lagoon.

Her management agency, Asia Momentum Media, also shared a snap of her in a swimsuit at an amusement park in Subang Jaya.

The agency, a subsidiary of Hong Kong Asia Television (ATV) and a mobile entertainment platform available in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, also announced on its Instagram that it would be premiering a travel program featuring Ah Yi and other Miss Asia contestants next month.

It seems like she also attended a press conference for the program on Thursday.

Back in June, she shared photos of herself with Singaporean comedy film “Ah Girls Go Army Again” cast members Xixi Lim and Glenn Yong, fanning rumors that she was preparing to break into Singapore’s entertainment scene as well.
