NEW DELHI – Health experts and consumer rights advocates in India are up in arms about a proposed star-based, front-of-package labelling (FOPL) system intended to deter consumption of unhealthy processed food.
They claim it will instead mislead consumers by conveying “approval” for such items high in sugar, salt or saturated fats.
