Liverpool are leading the race to sign highly-rated PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen with Jurgen Klopp looking to reinvigorate his forward line this summer.

The Premier League champions are set to surrender their crown to Manchester City having struggled to maintain the standards they set last season when they swept all before the on the domestic front.

Goals, however, have been much harder to come by this term with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, in particular, failing to support Mohamed Salah who remains in contention to win another Golden Boot.

Divock Origi, who has made invaluable, albeit, irregular contributions over the course of his Anfield carer is set to depart in the close season.

And Klopp is said to view Netherlands international Malen as the ideal replacement, according to celona and Juventus are also believed to be keen in signing Malen but, according to Voetbal International.

Malen came through the Ajax academy but was snapped up by Arsenal six years ago. The 22-year-old failed to make a senior appearance for the Gunners but the north London club were desperate to hold onto a player who now a fully established senior international.

Malen has scored 17 goals in 29 league appearances this season and is also coveted by the likes of Juventus and Barcelona.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are already closing in on the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, who could end up costing as much as £40m.

The Reds have suffered a spare of defensive injuries which undermined their title defence and are still without the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Ozan Kabak was signed on loan from Schalke in January, but a decision is yet to be made on whether he will join on a permanent basis.
