TAIPEI (The China Post) — Mayday (五月天) lead singer A-shin (阿信) took to Facebook on Sunday and called on the public to take actions to support medical professionals as fears have grown over the latest coronavirus cluster.

Ashin shared the CECC’s emergency announcement with hashtags including “please help to share the post” and “coming together to support healthcare workers.”

The post has garnered 10,000 likes, 1,334 comments, and 15,000 shares as of press time.

In response to the post, many social media users have said: “I’ve forwarded it, let’s all work together to protect Taiwan” while one wrote: “I’m living in Taoyuan, I’m truly grateful to Ashin.”

Ashin’s post came after the Central Epidemic Command Center’s (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) decision to expand the home isolation measures for related contacts to the Taoyuan General Hospital.

It is estimated that around 5,000 people will be asked to quarantine, said the CECC.

Taoyuan has seen 15 domestic COVID-19 cases to date, including two doctors, four nurses, one migrant caregiver, three family members of two of the nurses, and two hospital patients and their three family members.
