Rangers are close to signing KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala, according to reports.

Steven Gerrard is looking to improve his Rangers squad following their title success this season.

According to the Daily Record, the Scottish champions are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Sakala, who will be available on a free transfer this summer.

The report claims that the 24-year-old is also keen to join Rangers due to the prospect of playing under Steven Gerrard and competing in the Champions League.

KV Oostende, who finished fifth in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League this season, have been keen to keep the striker but Rangers are willing to offer him a long-term deal.

Sakala scored 13 goals in 28 league games for KV Oostende this season, while he has also been capped 13 times by Zambia’s national team.

Speaking about his future in January, Sakala said: ‘You can never say something like that in football.

‘But it is no secret that I feel good in Ostend. I have a good relationship with the supporters and the employees, I love the city, so I certainly do not rule out signing a new contract here.

‘The talks are ongoing, we’ll see what comes out of the bus.’
