Valentine ideas for Singapore lovebirds who can’t think of anything

Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away and if you’ve been too busy to plan anything, here’s some help.

Coconuts Singapore looked all over to find great restaurants, extraordinary nights out and places for simple, casual dinners we think you and bae might love.

Vue

Vue is a good place to make an impression especially for couples with refined tastes in food. Caviars, foie gras and the like are on offer at the bar-grill restaurant in a four-course menu whipped up by chef Sam Chin.

The restaurant also offers a scenic view of the Marina Bay area, which makes for a rather perfect backdrop for whispering sweet nothings.

From S$388 per couple.

Adrift’s Hearts & Wines Party

The iconic Marina Bay Sands is chock full of fancy restaurants with panoramic views. But one to take the romantic experience in a slightly different direction is Adrift, which is hosting a Hearts & Wines Party on Valentine’s Day complete with a five-course dinner and a side of cocktails served in a color that matches relationship status — green for the singles, red for those attached and amber for those in “complicated” relationships — something that could go horribly wrong, but hey, it might be fun.  Guests can also enjoy live music starting at 9:30pm.

From S$118 per pax.

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer

The other Marina Bay Sands eatery you might want to check out on Valentine’s Day is the Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beer, which is dishing out a towering glass of something called Red Velvet Cake Shake.

The pancreas-melting dessert is brimming with velvet cake batter, vanilla frosting, red and white sprinkles, and topped with a slice of actual red velvet cake.

Sounds dangerously sweet and overly gimmicky but also a potential ice breaker that’s great for a first date. *wink*

There’s also the Marina Bay boardwalk overlooking the Singapore River just outside for a romantic, after-dinner stroll.

Red Velvet Cake Shake priced at S$22.

Mimi

If a romantic Asian dinner is what you’re after, the Mimi restaurant in Clarke Quay has a Valentine’s Day special menu comprised of wittily named dishes like Always Be My Dumpling, made of foie gras and beetroot dumplings, and Don’t Ruffle My Feathers, which is truffle-roasted chicken with longans, nuts and melon seeds.

After dinner, you can let your hair down nearby at some of Clarke Quay’s popular nightclubs.

From S$138 per couple for a five-course meal.

The Projector
If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary,  we suggest heading over to Golden Mile for some tasty and spicy authentic Thai food before heading over to The Projector movie theatre to blush through a “naughty” reading session by local online personalities.

Hosted by social media darling Preetipls, Singaporean literary stars Alfian Sa’at, Pooja Nansi and Marylyn Tan promise to deliver a steamy hour reading aloud sizzling sexts.

You can then end the night with cocktails at nearby The Great Escape bar, overlooking the Marina Promenade and Nicoll Highway.

S$15 per person for the reading session.

Neon Pigeon

Neon Pigeon bar and restaurant is serving Steak in Love (from S$48) this Valentine’s Day and a side of Kimochi cocktail (sake, yuzu, peach, cranberry, shiso bitters and prosecco) from S$16 each.

The area also has a great casual ambience for a relaxed date, who you can take a stroll with down Duxton Plains Park nearby.

The Carvery at Park Hotel Alexandra

There’s something cinematic and dreamy about being by the pool and underneath the stars.

The Carvery at Park Hotel Alexandra is hosting its first-ever Valentine’s Day buffet by its infinity pool, exclusive to only 10 couples. The buffet includes roasts and themed cakes.

From S$168 per couple.

Couples who dance together, stay together? They at least tend to go home together. If you’re looking for a groovy night out, French DJ Gilles Peterson will be dishing out funky and soulful rhythms at the 222 Arts Club on Queen Street. Beats sure to keep you on your toes all night a la Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Just don’t leave “baby in a corner.”

Tickets priced from S$50.

Sunset Cruise

Sick of the Singapore skyline? Pack a picnic basket and hop on a two-hour ride aboard the MSF Natsu for a sunset cruise through Singapore’s southern strait. Boarding begins at 5:45pm at the Marina South Pier. Tickets, which cost S$58 per pax or S$88 per couple, include insurance, service and port fees.

The first 30 customers get S$20 off when they use promo code VDAY20.
