KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Patience is needed when one craves a good bowl of pork noodles.
That’s because each bowl is only cooked upon order. Usually popular places will require a 30- to 45-minute wait or so.
It’s the same for this hidden stall tucked inside the housing estate of Taman Bukit Angsana. Maybe that is why only local residents frequent this place.
When you place your order at this stall run by a young couple, they will warn you that it takes a long time so settle in and wait.
The dry version of these pork noodles is a good choice as it’s tossed in a flavourful sauce and minced meat.
I asked for every topping they had which turned out to be minced pork patty, sliced pork, layered intestines, liver and pork balls. The highlight is the milky broth eked from rapidly boiling huge pork knuckle bones.
Crowning that bowl is a sprinkle of golden brown lard fritters. Such a treat indeed.
The broth has a milky taste thanks to the use of pork knuckle bones (left). You need to be incredibly patient as each bowl is cooked only upon order (right).
Dine al-fresco outside the eatery for a comfortable dining experience.
You will slurp down every bit of the noodles with that broth. It’s not overly rich tasting but it has more heft compared to that at many other places. The toppings are well cooked too.
It’s hard to choose between the soup or the version, hence I ordered both. It was a good move as I discovered how tasty their dry noodles are.
The slick short strands of the loh shue fun with its topping of minced pork was quickly relished. This was truly comfort food.
Find this hidden spot inside the housing estate of Taman Bukit Angsana.
Expect to fork out RM8 for the small portion or RM9 for the large one.
As seats can be scarce, I shared a table and the friendly diners told me the curry mee is also popular. Maybe for my next adventure, I’ll try that.
