Hong Kong logged its hottest day of the year so far on Saturday as the mercury climbed to nearly 32 degrees Celsius (89.6 Fahrenheit), a temperature even higher than around this time last year.
The Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 31.9 degrees in the afternoon. The first “hottest day of the year” in 2023 came on April 12, when the temperature rose to 29.2 degrees.

Nine locations across the New Territories and Kowloon recorded a temperature of 30 degrees at 4pm, including Yuen Long in the New Territories and Kowloon City.
The forecaster said the city would remain hot on Sunday, with the minimum temperature expected to hit 25 degrees in the morning. But sporadic showers in the middle and latter part of next week could also be expected.
