Hong Kong police hunt man after fire extinguisher accidentally goes off like rocket, damages 2 Tesla cars parked on either side of street

Hong Kong police are hunting a man after a fire extinguisher he was holding accidentally went off and shot across the street in a busy shopping district on Tuesday, hitting two parked Tesla cars.

The incident at around 2pm on Hillwood Road in Tsim Sha Tsui damaged the rear windscreen of a white Tesla, as well as the rear door and glass sunroof of a black one, according to a source familiar with the case.

No casualties were reported, according to the force.

The white Tesla was parked on the left side of the one-way street, while the black one was on the other side of the road when the extinguisher flew out of an alley.

A video posted online shows an unidentifiable object with gas streaming out of it shooting across the road and slamming into the parked black Tesla’s right rear door before flying up onto its sunroof.

At least three people were on the street when the extinguisher went rocketing past.

A 26-year-old worker who was unloading goods from a delivery van at the time spotted a man running out of the alley after hearing a loud bang, the source said.

He said security camera footage revealed a man was holding a fire extinguisher with an unknown gas spraying out in the alley when the incident occurred.

“The extinguisher accidentally flew out of his hands, causing damage to the two parked vehicles,” the insider said.
