How many club goals has Lionel Messi scored?

Lionel Messi has scored 704 goals in his senior club career for Barcelona and PSG.

The Argentine scored the bulk of his goals at Barcelona whilst playing for the Spanish giants between 2003 and 2021.

Messi’s 672 goals for Barcelona is the most goals scored for a single club by a player in the history of football.

Messi added to his goal record at PSG but endured a largely underwhelming first season with the Parisians in 2021-22 which saw him score just 11 goals.

However, Messi performed better in his second campaign, managing 21 goals in all competitions.

His highest tally in a single season is the 73 goals he hit in 2011-12 for Barcelona – a European record.

How many goals has Lionel Messi scored for Argentina?

Messi has scored 102 goals in 174 appearances for Argentina.

This makes him the record goalscorer in the history of the Argentinian national team and the third highest goalscorer in international history behind Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Ali Daei (109).

In his 26 World Cup appearances, Messi has scored 13 goals with seven of them coming in the victorious 2022 campaign in Qatar.

Argentina were beaten in the 2014 World Cup final by Germany, before going on to lose the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals.

As a result of the heartbreaking losses in the finals, Messi announced his international retirement in 2016.

However, he reversed his decision shortly afterwards and he finally got his hands on an international trophy by guiding Argentina to the 2021 Copa America title before the World Cup the following year.
