Singapore DPM Heng Swee Keat to meet senior Chinese leaders


SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat will meet senior central and local Chinese leaders on a working visit to China, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said on Sunday (Apr 7).

Mr Heng, who is also Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, will visit Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong from Apr 7 to Apr 12.

His visit will build on the “positive momentum of high-level exchanges between Singapore and China”, said PMO, adding that it would be a “good opportunity for both sides to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, as well as exchange views on regional and international issues”.

Mr Heng met senior Chinese diplomat Liu Jianchao on his recent visit to Singapore, when the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China also called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

During his six-day trip, Mr Heng will also meet visit companies and research institutes, and engage with people from various sectors. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Research Foundation, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
