Who is drug lord El Chapo’s glam granddaughter, Frida Guzmán Muñoz? The 18-year-old is taking luxury vacays across the globe and launching a music career while Joaquin Guzmán is jailed for life

First jailed in 2015, El Chapo made headlines when he managed to tunnel himself out to freedom, only to be recaptured the following year and extradited to the United States in 2017.

While El Chapo is finally serving a life sentence in prison – 30-plus years – his glamorous granddaughter is wasting no time leveraging her infamous family ties while trying to launch a career in entertainment.

Her rise to musical fame

Guzmán reached the finals of Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento, Mexico’s version of America’s Got Talent, aged just 16 in 2022 and regularly posts videos of her performances on her YouTube channel and to her 111,000 followers on Instagram.

Although she did not win the competition, the television exposure boosted her rising career as a singer of regional Mexican ballads.

She’s a budding boxer like her stepdad Julio Cesar Lopez Jr

Guzmán isn’t just a pretty face – she’s not afraid to get physical while boxing either, a skill she acquired from her stepfather Julio Cesar Lopez Jr, a former professional boxer who previously held the World Boxing Council middleweight in 2011.

Her mother married Chavez after the death of Guzmán’s biological father, who was only 22 when he was gunned down.

Her boxing ties even contributed to her singing career. Guzmán first got noticed nationally for her vocal skills when she sang the Mexican national anthem during a boxing event in Durango, Colorado, US, in 2020, per New York Post.

Her jet-setting, luxury life

Guzmán comes from a family of money and she’s not afraid to flaunt her luxury life – even while her infamous grandfather is behind bars. She often posts photos of lavish holidays to her Instagram account, including five-star trips to the Bahamas, Las Vegas and New York.

This year, she embarked on whirlwind trip of Europe, posting photos of herself at Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London in London, the Louvre and Disneyland in Paris, Edinburgh Castle and Loch Ness, where she apparently searched for the legendary Loch Ness monster during the Scottish leg of her holiday.
During the teenager’s partying tour through Europe in February, she took to the streets to perform anonymously as a busker. In one video, she is seen singing “Shallow”, originally sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, to a large crowd in Leicester Square after being introduced simply as “Frida”.

The crowd was visibly stunned as the wannabe pop star belted out songs in public, with many even stopping to film the emotional performance on their phones. Writing on Instagram, Guzmán noted: “My dream of singing on the streets of London – goal accomplished.”
