PETALING JAYA: Police have seized 312.7kg of various drugs worth RM1.48 million after busting a drug processing laboratory operating from a house in Semenyih.
A 24-year-old man, believed to be the syndicate’s mastermind and chemist, was arrested with 13 others in three separate raids conducted simultaneously on Friday.
Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department director Khaw Kok Chin said the syndicate had been distributing and selling the drugs for the past year.
“Our investigations found the mastermind learned how to cook drugs online.
“His wife, along with four other women, were believed to be responsible for managing the syndicate’s finances and marketing,” he said in a Harian Metro report.
The success came after police stopped and inspected a vehicle at the Cheras-Kajang Expressway. They found 1,200 packages containing 2.4kg of heroin.
The police then raided a terrace house in Semenyih, where they found 7.31kg of heroin, 4.5kg of chemicals and 13.644kg of liquid containing drugs. Equipment to process drugs was also found there.
A luxury condominium at KL Sentral, which was suspected to be used to store drugs, was also raided. Police seized 26.25kg of syabu, 55.33kg of heroin and 4.208kg of ganja there.
All of the suspects are being investigated for trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
They have been remanded until Friday.
Khaw said five of the suspects had prior convictions for various crimes.
