Cabby issues: ‘Creepy’ Singapore taxi driver checks up on passenger consistently over 2 years

A TikTok user recently shared a story about a taxi driver who has been checking up on her consistently for 2 years after the one time he gave her a ride in one of the cringier transport tales we’ve heard in a while.

TikTok user Yatty yesterday posted a screenshot of a text conversation she had with a ComfortDelGro taxi driver who has been texting her about every six months since 2021 after she rode in his cab.

“Ok I swear to god the most consistent man in my life is not like a father figure or like a boyfriend or anything, but it’s this taxi driver from 2021,” Yatty said.

Yatty explained that the driver got her number from the taxi company’s old phone application when drivers could get a hold of passengers’ numbers.

She said he asked if she wanted the receipt for her ride, which she agreed to, and he continued to text her afterward.

The messages all seemed friendly with him asking her how she was but Yatty said she thought this was “a bit creepy.”

The texts she shows in the video are from March of last year and then again six months later in August and most recently a message that read: “Yo hi yatty. How have you been.”

ComfortDelGro responded in the comments yesterday asking Yatty to reach out to them with the driver’s details.

“Dear Yatty, we’re sorry to hear about the unpleasant experience. Could you email feedback@cdgtaxi.com.sg with the driver’s details? Thank you,” the company commented.

ComfortDelGro has not immediately responded to Coconuts’ queries requesting comment.

Yatty mentioned in the comments that the driver was around 50 years old and said she will not be replying or “entertaining” him. In fact, she said she should probably “block” him.

“…props to you for like that effort and for remembering but also its a bit creepy how like he can just get your number and just contact you like consistently like that,” she added.

TikTok users who commented were divided. Some thought that he could be genuinely concerned about her and was just being friendly whereas others told her to block and report him immediately.
